  • Gina Sexton, current Undergraduate Performance Major, recently won a position with the US Army's Fife and Drum Corps, stationed at Fort Myer, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.  The premiere ceremonial unit of the US Army, the Fife and Drum Corpus regularly performs for Presidential ceremonies, for Visiting Heads of State, and other national ceremonies.

  • Anna Woodward, (BM in Flute Performance, 1990) was recently appointed Professor of Flute at Seattle Pacific University.  Following graduation at UNT, Anna (Jennifer Coma) studied at the Royal College of Music in London as a Rotary Scholar, where she completed both a Master's Degree and an Artist Diploma as a student of Susan Milan.

  • Laura Rakel, Semifinalist in the Piccolo Young Artist Competition for the National Flute Association where she will compete in this summer's annual convention in Pittsburgh in August, 2006.
    Accepted to the National Orchestral Institute (NOI) for the 2006 Summer Season.  The Institute is held annually in June on the University of Maryland campus, near Washington, DC.
    Winner of the 21st Annual Entergy Young Texas Artists Music Competition
    and Audience Choice Award for best musical performance Judges: 
    Carmen Balthrop, James Dick, Amir Kats, Louis Salemno and Maria Schleuning
    Laura will be performing the Ibert Concerto with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra in their 2006 season.
    Selected for the NFA Piccolo Masterclass in the 2005 Convention in San Diego.
    Semifinalist in the Wind Division of the 2005 Kingsville Young Artist Competition.
    First Prize in the 2004 MTNA Young Artist competition.
    Finalist in the 2004 Woodwind Division, Sorantin Competition.

  • Cari Ship (2nd year Flute Performance Major) has been accepted as a scholarship student for this summer's Eastern Music Festival

  • Dae-Sik Hur, 2004 Appointment as Professor of Flute in the Department of Music at Che-Ju National University in Korea.  2005 - Completed Doctorate in Flute Performance at UNT

  • Brian Luce has been appointed Professor of Flute at the University of Arizona, Fall 2004

  • Diane Boyd Schulz has been appointed Professor of Flute at the University of Alabama, Fall 2005

  • Clint Foreman (2003 UNT graduate and currently a first year doctoral student at Shepherd School of Music, Rice University)
    Selected for the Tanglewood Fellowship Program for the 2006 Season
    Accepted to the Spoleto Festival where he will be in residence before attending Tanglewood later in the summer
    Selected for the Tanglewood Fellowship Program for the 2005 Season and 
    First Prize winner in the 2004 Myrna Brown Competition - See announcement at Texas Flute Society

  • Trio Bella, First Prize Winner for MTNA Chamber Music State Competition, SMU, November 2005, and they will compete in Regional competition in January of 2006 in Louisiana.
